Cathay

Cathay is an anthology of classical Chinese poetry translated into English via way of means of cutting-edge poet Ezra Pound primarily based totally on notes via way of means of Ernest Fenollosa that Pound owned in 1913. Pound used the notes to translate at first. Noh's plays, then to translate Chinese poetry into English, despite his complete lack of knowledge of the Chinese language. The 15 poems in the volume are considered less rigorous translations than complete new ones; and, in daring translations of his works in a language he was unfamiliar with, Pound paved the way for modernist translations.
