Epiktet (Altgriechisch: Ἐπίκτητος; 55–135 n. Chr.) War ein griechischer Salbei und stoischer Philosoph. Er wurde als Sklave in Hierapolis, Phrygia (heutiges Pamukkale, Türkei) geboren und lebte bis zu seiner Verbannung in Rom, als er für den Rest seines Lebens nach Nikopolis im Nordwesten Griechenlands ging. Seine Lehren wurden von seinem Schüler Arrian in seinen Diskursen niedergeschrieben und veröffentlicht.
